The Catlins. The South Island’s rugged south coastline. Two miserable days of hail, sleet and wind. Lovely.
Nugget Point lighthouse. Apparently you can see seals and dolphins from the lookout but they had departed to sunnier climes. Wish I’d joined them.
There is a petrified forest somewhere under here. I didn’t spend too much time looking – I was too scared of the advancing tide.
The Niagara Falls. A surveyor with a sense of humour then. Bit wasted on me – I’d spent 5 minutes out of the car getting soaked to get to them.
Slope Point, most southerly on the South Island. I forced a smile (grimace?) for the camera through the hail and wind.
