Haridwar & Rishikesh were very disappointing. Hindu temples can’t compete with the dramtic settings of buddhist monasteries. The towns themselves were very dirty.

Just spent 6 weeks in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh. Amazing scenery. Have updated the site with some photos – see link. Next stops are Utteranchal and Nepal.
Favourite location for bollywood, outside Christ Church on the ridge at Simla.
Viceregal Lodge, where amongst other decisions, Indian partition was decided in 1947.
